Note: This variation of the Hares Ear nymph as worked very well for me in Wales, England, Ireland and Slovenia.

| Hook: | standard nymph |
| Thread: | Brown UNI thread |
| Tail: | Cock pheasant side tail, the mottled side |
| Rib: | fine gold flat tinsel |
| Abdomen: | Hare's fur, body the example as fur from the back of the animal but flank fur (sandy coloured) seems right as a E. Danica nymph imitation |
| Wingcase: | mottled side of a cock pheasant side tail feather, tie in as normal but fold back and cut surplus leaving a small stub |
| Thorax: | Hare's fur, body the example as fur from the back of the animal but flank fur (sandy coloured) seems right as a E. Danica nymph imitation |
