Crackleback

Fly: Byron Haugh, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: 1X Dry Fly, #12 - #14
Thread: Red
Shellback: Peacock herl
Body: Uni-Stretch Thread (Red, or Yellow)
Hackle: Furnace, full body palmered

Note: This fly is amazing. So simple and yet very deadly. Fished as a dry until it swings below the surface. Then, the fly is stripped in with quick sharp short strips. I have found very picky trout feeding on miniscule midges who attack this "large" fly. Originated by a fellow in Missouri.
