Parachute Hare's Ear

Fly: Bob Petti, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC 100BL
Thread: Tan
Tail: Moose Body
Body: Hare's Ear Dubbing
Wing post: Calf Tail
Hackle: Grizzly, parachute style

Note: The pattern shown differs from Schroeder's original in the tail material. I prefer moose body hairs in place of the standard deer hair. Also, for smaller sized flies, I will substitute Australian 'Possum for the hare's mask blend as it retains the mottling and some of the texture of the spikey hare's mask blend, yet is easier to work with on smaller hooks.
