I started fly fishing in Wisconsin for spring time pike During the summer I switched to smallmouth bass and in fall, I was fly fishing for steelhead, salmon and lake run browns.

In the early 90’s I moved to southeast Missouri. I fished for largemouth, chain pickerel and park trout for a while. There weren’t many really big game fish, so I started fishing for rough fish. One thing led to another and my wife and I ended up setting several line class tippet IGFA world records. Gar and bowfin were the most fun. In Texas I hooked an eight foot alligator and fought it for over an hour thinking it was an alligator gar. We spent a week trying to hookup with a large alligator gar, never got one.

Now I live in Heber Springs, Arkansas where I live with my wife, 11 dogs and my blind cat. I work as a foundry engineer and most of my fishing is on the Little Red River. I guide on the Little Red, and do some custom tying.

My favorite fly fishing is still for northern pike and smallmouth bass, so I spend a few weeks each spring in northern Ontario, fishing Rainy Lake.
