My fly-tying started out because of my wonderful wife
Sandy. She bought me a fly tying kit one Christmas eleven
years ago. After that she arranged for me to meet the Fly tying
guru Mr George Harvey of Penn State College. Mr Harvey taught the
first college level fly tying course in the Country (USA).
Since that time I have had two other Fly tying mentors, the late Poul
Jorgensen and the very talented Realistic tyer Bob Mead. I have
tied at the many Fly tying shows and I am a member of the
Catskill Fly fishing Museum and the Catskill Flytyers Guild.
I have been a guest tyer at the Catskill Museum many times and it
is always a thrill to teach others the skills of tying the fly.
My main fly fishing stomping grounds are the streams of the
Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, which I truly love . My whole family is
involved in fly fishing and tying,my two boys tied their first fly at
the age of 5 & 6 years old. My wife tied her first fly at the age
of...well lets just say many years ago,in order to keep this happy family
happy. In the last year I have started writing for a few Fly
tying Magazines as well as started a small Collector flies
Business called "Wilson's Artful Fly",specializing in Domed Realistic
flies for the collector.
My future plans are to keep writing and keep fishing the fly in the
mountains that I love.
My best, Brad Wilson
