Hook: TIEMCO 2487 (or equivalent light wire scud hook) #16-20
Thread: Tan 8/0, shade to match natural
Shuck: CDC Barbules
Rib: 6/0 Brown thread
Abdomen: Same Thread
Thorax: Tan Ice Dubbing
Wing: One tan CDC feather

Note:The thread fly is designed to accentuate profile/silhouette and movement of the CDC shuck. One CDC feather and thread. It is deadly on selective fish. The fly can be tied as an upright wing or a cripple.
Tying Instructions:
  1. Tie dark ribbing thread at bend.

  2. Tie tan thread in at eye and form abdomen with thread.

  3. Spiral dark thread for ribbing.

  4. Dub small ball of tan ice dubbing for thorax.

  5. Tie in CDC by the butt about a quarter of the way back from the eye with the dull side facing up.

  6. Loop the CDC back toward the bend and then forward toward the eye forming a wing case loop. Leave some CDC to form an upright or forward wing. Before tying off, stroke some CDC Barbules back to form shuck.

  7. Tie off and trim. Wing should be forward for cripple over eye or upright for dun.
