Goat's Toe Variant

Fly: Chris Reeves, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Scorpion competition heavy-weight #10
Thread: Black
Tail: Peacock breast feather fibers
Ribbing: Thin pearl mylar
Body: Peacock herl
Thorax: Long fibered peacock breast feather, swept back

Note: I like to use this fly early season and fish it really slow on a floater or intermediate line. The original has a red tag. I like to think my version is more natural. A good fly for Rutland reservoir in the early season.
