Fran Betters -- 30 April 1931 - 6 September 2009
These flies were tied by Fran Betters in his later years, at age 72. While not the most refined, they do constitute a lasting legacy. While the Ausable Wulff is perhaps Fran's best known pattern, I find the other two designs having had the most impact on flytyiers world wide.
The Haystack inspired the Caucci & Nastasi Comparadun style of fly.
The Usual, single handedly, made snowshoe hare a mainstay flytying material.
