Plastic Winged Caddis

Fly: Frank Thompson, Originator: (unknown), Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC 100, #12 –20
Thread: Fly master, 6/0, brown
Body: Hare’s mask dubbing
Wing: Thin clear plastic sheet, cut to shape and spot colored with rusty brown marker. This plastic comes in very long sheets that are folded many times until it is strong enough to use for large crates, like a banding material.
Head: Dark brown fur or poly dubbing
Note: The wings make a loud chattering sound when cast in air, but trout like them just fine on the water.
