Sh‘emu’ Shrimp

Hook: Mustad #2 34007
Thread: Gudebrod #77 Orange 6/0
Eyes: #20 lb mono with clear glass pink seed beads dipped in epoxy
Butt: Hot bot tuft or orange McFly foam
Horn: Tan craft fur marked with Bronze Prisma color pen
Topping: Peach ultra hair, 4 strands rootbeer krystal flash doubled over thread
Feelers: 2 brown emu feathers
Eyes: Small gold deep water dumbell eyes
Body: Orange Gudebrod HT braid along with large light badger hackle laying along side it
Beard: Orange squirrel tail
Weedguard: #20 lb mono, double
Coating: Clear epoxy on top of body only

Steps:

  1. Tie in hot bot tuft or orange McFly foam

  2. Horn-tan craft fur marked with Bronze Prisma color pen Topped with peach ultra hair, 4 strands rootbeer krystal flash doubled over thread. Feelers- 2 brown emu feathers

  3. Build tapered body with thread and tie in small gold deep water dumbell eyes ¼ inch back from hook eye

  4. Return thread to where shrimp head ended (above hook point)

  5. Tie in orange Gudebrod HT braid along with large light badger hackle laying along side it.

  6. Wrap forward cinch down in front of gold dumbell.

  7. Trim top of body hackle off

  8. Beard (tail)-orange squirrel tail

  9. Weed guard-#20 lb mono, double, 2 wraps of thread underneath to lift up

  10. Coating- clear epoxy on top of body only, allow to dry upside down forming bulging shrimp body
