Deer & Duck (D&D)

Originator/tier: Harry Mason, Photographs: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Tiemco 5262 (or 2XL fine wire dry fly hook)
Thread: Brown 8/0
Body: Dubbing brush or dubbing loop with short sections of deer hair and matching dubbing
Downwing: Duck quill segments
Hackle: Brown or cree
Antennae: Lemon wood duck fibers
Thorax: Peacock herl

Comments and Tips:

The wings take a bit of practice but the fly floats all day and fish seem like it. The body is comprised of a loop formed with deer hair and a touch of fine dubbing. Trim the hair at the leading top shoulder once you have wrapped the body. This allows the wings to lay flat over the body.
