|
Hook: |
TMC 700 (long shank limerick; steelhead wet) |
| Thread: |
black UNI 8/0 |
| Tail: |
moose body |
| Ribbing: |
fine round silver tinsel |
| Body: |
modern synthetic floss (Oral-B satinfloss, nice mint flavour...) |
| Wing: |
red and white feather strips, married; here duck flight primaries |
| Throat: |
black (dyed) saddle hackle fibers, tied false hackle style |
Note: This is a fly I tied for a swap that had football teams as its theme. Since we have soccer, not football, I chose a soccer team, Ajax Amsterdam, as theme. Ajax plays in white shorts and red-and-white shirts... A good opportunity to practice making married feather wings. If it taught me one thing, it is that half the job is in using first class materials -- which, needless to say, I found out I didn’t have ;-)
