Caddis Emerger

Fly: Harald Weidler, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC 2312 #10-12
Thread: UNI 6/0 dark brown
Rib: Flexi Floss green
Shuck: Glitter Chenille, yellow
Abdomen: Seal light green, olive and orange mixed
Wing post: Foam "bubble", yellow
Thorax: Seal rusty brown with hare's ear brown
Hackle: 2x CDC feather natural, 1x red (or other combimations) ,plus 1 feather Coc de Leon (or substitute) all together fixed in a loop, twisted and tied parachute style
Note: My favorable fly when Caddis are hatching especially Hydropsyche. It has proved its effectiveness many times and I caught my biggest rainbow, close to 12 pounds, on it. Present it sligthly downstream close to the other bank and let it jump an skate like the real insect. It's amazing how one can attract fish with it when you move it right. The combination of the foam bubble with the CDC Hackle make the fly almost unsinkable.
