CDC Danica

Fly: Harald Weidler, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Mustad Dry Curved #8
Thread: UNI 6/0 beige
Tail: 3 Nutria fibers, divided
Rib: 3 Pheasant tail fibers in 3 turns, underneath flexi floss, green
Abdomen: Furry Foam or any fine dubbing, cream
Hackle: CDC natural in a loop and a badger hackle
Wing: Seal rusty brown with hare's ear brown
Note: Last june I tried that fly on a river called Fischa not far south of Vienna, which is famous for a heavy ephemerella hatch. The trout liked it. For selective fish you can leave the wings and tie the CDC instead formed in a bubble and the hacke trimmed flush underneath so the fly lies flat in the surface.
