Large Brown Damsel

Fly: Harald Weidler, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Tiemco 2312 heavy wire #6-8
Thread: UNI 6/0 dark brown
Weight: Heavy lead wire in 2 layers
Tail: Small bunch of brown marabou feathers
Rib: Orange body glass
Abdomen: Brown leech yarn
Legs: Soft hen hackle segmented
Turkey feather brown, folded and tied down backwards
Eyes: Medium black plastic chain eyes
Note: A very heavy pattern for deep presentation, best when you strip it slow with short pulls.I prefer to pull the streamers and damsel patterns with both hands while the rod is fixed between your arm and body.It takes some practice, but you can move the fly without stops and it is exciting to feel a strike in your hands.
