Cricket (modified Wendelberg Cricket) |
|
|
|
Hook: | TMC 200R or dry fly (TMC 900BL, 102Y) |
Thread: | Black |
Abdomen: | Black and brown Haretron dubbing mixed in equal parts, dubbed thickly |
Underwing: | Black Elk hair |
Overwing: | Turkey wing feather, treat with Flexament |
Head: | Elk hair tied bullet style |
Legs: | Flat rubber (or use knotted pheasant or use hair from the head as legs) |
Notes: Modified from Ross Mueller's modification of a Tom Wendelberg pattern. Dub a thick body. I prefer Haretron dubbing for the sparkle antron gives the fly. For the head, I dub over the butts of the elk hair to create a neater fly and to increase the bulk of the head. Also, instead of a standard bullet head, I prefer to split hair in half, pulling each half to the sides of the hook. |
