Yellow Stimulator

Fly: Jason Freund, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC 200R (or equivalent)
Thread: Orange
Tail: Elk hair
Rib: Tying thread
Abdomen: Yellow beaver dubbing
Body hackle: Tan rooster hackle, undersized
Wing: Elk hair
Thorax: Orange beaver dubbing
Hackle: Cree rooster hackle, oversized

Notes: There aren't many stonefly hatches of note in the Midwest or Eastern United States but this is still a good searching fly or strike indicator. Can be used the match the yellow sally hatch or works as a hopper imitation. You may want to use flashier dubbing such as an antron blend for the body and thorax.
