Sheep Creek Special

Originator: George Biggs, Fly: John Gordon, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Daiichi 1720 (size #10)
Thread: 6/0 Black Uni-thread
Aft hackle: Brown
Body: Peacock Herl
Wing: Mallard Flank (Natural)

Note: This fly was created by the late George Biggs of Idaho. This is a great lake pattern for trout. Tying instructions
  1. Start thread and tie in brown hackle. Should be 1 ½ times the hook gap. Wrap hackle around the hook about 3-4 times and tie off.

  2. Tie in several strands of peacock herl. Twist the herl and then wrap towards the eye to create the body.

  3. Tie in a natural colored mallard flank over the top of the peacock herl for the wing. This should be about one body length.

  4. Whip finish and coat with head cement.
