John King

Hello, I live in Clarenville, Newfoundland on the east coast of Canada where I fish for sea trout, brookies and atlantic salmon at every opportunity. There are nearly 200 scheduled salmon rivers in the province and several are within an hour’s drive of Clarenville. I am a member of the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) and the Salmonid Association of Eastern Newfoundland (SAEN). Both organizations work hard to preserve good fishing and to influence governments on conservation issues. Last year SAEN was successful in influencing local government to increase the number of river wardens. ASF’s work with the Greenland commercial fishery has helped to improve atlantic salmon fishing in the last two years. I also volunteer on the Board of the Terra Nova National Park Heritage Foundation. In addition to fly tying, I build fly rods and maintain a guide’s licence for times when friends visit.
