Green Stonefly

Fly: John Nicholls, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Kamasan B810 Cranked shank or similar
Bead: Olive green
Thread: Green
Tail: Olive goose biots
Rib: green coloured wire
Abdomen: light tan dubbing of choice
Hackle: Olive hen tied "in the round"
Thorax: Medium green dubbing

Note: Can be further weighted with lead. A good fly for larger bouldery water. I like to tie the hackle long to that there is plenty of movement. Another variation is to use an all green body/thorax. An all black fly is also useful tied in the same manner.
