Jon Vermilyea

I was born in 1970, and grew up fishing the Great Lakes Tributaries of Upstate New York.

I began tying at 11, with a series of tying lessons given to me by my mother as a gift with a renowned local tier in Oswego, NY. This was as much a gift to me as it was an attempt by my mother to salvage what remained of our Golden Retrievers’ beautiful coat! I spent the next decade experimenting with any feather, fur, and hook combination I could think of, plying the local salmon, steelhead, and trout for their approval. The obsession has exploded ever since.

Now residing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I spend equal amounts of time plying the waters of the North Country for Salmon and Trout and tying flies to support the effort. I am currently offering fly tying classes focused on introducing children to the craft.
