Hook: | Mustad 3906 or 3399A 12-14 |
Thread: | Cream or white |
Abdomen: | Pale orange embroidery thread color # 722 |
Thorax: | Cahill colored hare’s ear dubbing |
Hackle: | Cream or very pale ginger |
Note: I use a lot of embroidery thread for ribbing and making abdomens on my soft hackles. It comes in tons and a shades of colors to match any natural and it’s very inexpensive. I originated this fly to represent the Ephemerella dorothea hatch on my home river. These flies, when hatching, have a very distinctive orange cast to their abdomens. Many people consider them “Little Sulphurs”, but I do not believe they are. Epeorus vitrea hatches the same time. These, to me, are the sulfurs. |
