Grey Hackle

Hook: fine wire, dry fly
Thread: Brown
Tail (optional): red wool tag, or dyed red hackle barbs
Body: bronze peacock herl, ribbed with tag end of tying thread
Hackle: grizzly, wound through thorax section; clipped when appropriate

Note: A reliable midge pattern in small sizes. The Red Tag is the same fly with a brown hackle. Tied in a full palmer style in small sizes, it is known in America as Griffith’s Gnat.
