Ken Driedger

I am in my middle 50's , born in '46. I grew up in Vancouver BC, and began tying flies for steelhead and trout in the early 70's for the local sports shop in Smithers: Oscar's Sports...now owned and operated by his son Steve. I also look after rod and reel repairs for the store, building a few rods for private clients also.

There was a gap in the mid 80's when I stopped tying for the store, but closed the gap in 1990 by making a comeback...tying the local niche type flies.

I also tie low water steelhead flies for a select clientele. I have two grown children... Rick, and Sherry. Rick is married to Chrissy and has a little daughter, McKenzie, and works here for a forestry contracting firm.

I work for the Forest Service of the Province of BC. My wife, Lorrie, aka Inproved Sofa Pillow works for a local sand, gravel, and logging firm.

I teach an entry level fly tying class at adult interest night school annually..just after the new year. I've been doing that since 1993, having been the guest instructor for the previous teacher, who left the valley to be closer to his family in a warmer climate.

I will be eligible to retire early in 2001, and hope to expand on the fly tying, teaching, and rod-building.
