Pattern information

Be sure to put the tinsel under the floss or when you get it wet the body will turn a dingy grey colour.

Why exactly the colour blue is effective on Steelhead and Pacific Salmon is not quite clear to me, but the enigma of why these fish take a fly in general is part of the allure of fishing for them! Blue is a little- used colour, but on cold days, in clear water, and when casting to heavily worked-over fish, it can be a real asset to the box.

This fly combines the colour with a classic spey style and is very simple to tie. It should be fished the same as any other spey fly under the above conditions.
