Pattern information

A blend of Hare's Ear and Antron dubb can be used for the body.

Emu can be hard to find, but it is the best material for this fly. Ostrich can be substituted if necessary. A bleached turkey quill can be used in place of the pheasant.

Use a lot of movement when fishing this fly. Twitching the rod tip will provide an undulating action to the fly, and will help fool the fish. For the pickiest of Trout, add mono eyes to the fly.

I find this fly to be at its best when fished deep with a split shot added to bounce along the bottom. The broad, soft outline is the key to this fly's success.
