Tim Trexler

I was born February 10, 1954 in Altoona Pennsylvania. I moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia 1995 when the local hospital recruited me as the Technical Director and Clinical Coordinator of the Noninvasive Cardiology Lab. My professional credentials are RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer).

I began flyfishing and flytying at age 12, after winning a cheap bamboo fly rod at a church festival. Soon after that, a friend of my father gave me a box of assorted flytying materials and a Herter's vise. Progress was very slow in both departments. My entire education in these arts came exclusively from magazines, catalogues and books.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to attend many flyfishing and flytying shows, where I feel that my education has grown exponentially.

I have now been a flyfisher and flytyer for 35 years, and participate in many of the fly swaps on VFB, VFS, and Salmon Anglers Online. Three years ago, I started competing in the Pennsylvania State Flytying Championships. In 1999, and again in 2000, I placed 3rd in the Open Division, and in 2001 I moved to 2nd place, missing first place by 3 points.
