Fly: Wayne Luallen, Photographs: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Daiichi 1260 #16
Thread: Gudebrod 8/0 color to match thorax with thread used on abdomen marked with felt tip marker
Tail/shuck: Mallard body overlaid with slightly shorter Zelon, color matching abdomen
Rib: Dark brown thread
Abdomen: Dubbing blend matching color of natural nymph (brownish gray)
Anterior abdomen/thorax: Dubbing blend matching color of emerging dun's underside
Loopwing: Nature's Spirit goose CDC and mallard flank

Notes: This fly is meant to float with the tail and abdomen just under the film with the wing capturing a bubble of air buoying it at the surface. The wing is tied with the tips of the feathers toward the hook eye, mallard flank under the CDC. Both feathers are pulled over together to form the bubbled wing. Head is whip finished with dubbing over the thread so that no thread is visible here.
