| Hook: | TMC 200R, 3X long, curved shank, straight eye, sizes 12 - 8 |
| Thread: | Fire orange, 6/0 |
| Tail: | Natural elk, tied about one hook gap long (shorter than typical dry fly) |
| Rib: | Very fine gold wire (can be omitted but increases the durability) |
| Body hackle: | Brown or ginger (I've even used grizzly) |
| Abdomen: | Peacock herl, red floss, peacock herl, roughly equals lengths |
| Wing: | Natural elk, lighter color is better, some people tie a white over wing for visibility |
| Thorax: | Fire orange Antron or other dry fly dubbing |
| Front hackle: | Grizzly |
