|

Fly: Frank Thompson, Originator: Marc Petitjean, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann
|
Hook: |
TMC 100, #12 –20 |
Thread: |
M. Petitjean, 8/0, silk, gray |
Tail: |
Medium Pardo, Coq De Leon barbs, about 10 |
Body: |
CDC hackle tied by the tip, twist and wrap forward about 2/3 of shank, tan, trim excess barbs |
Hackle: |
CDC hackle, (1) olive, (1) yellow. Fold both hackles together and grab hold of tips of the barbs with bulldog clip, cut stems from barbs. Split your tying thread and lay the barbs between the split thread. Retwist the thread and hackles and wrap forward toward eye. With each turn stroke hackle upward so that most of barbs are on top of shank. Trim barbs from bottom and shape of back of hackles so it looks like the mayfly wing. |
Note: I recommend you buy Marc Petitjean’s Majic Tools and his DVD showing how to tie six different patterns. With Marc’s tools, these flies are easy to tie.
