Ribbon Crab

Hook: Wide Gap 1-2
Thread: Black Gudebrod G
Tail: Brown Marabou tuft
Body: (see tying instructions below)
Eyes: Burnt mono, #40 lb test
Claws: 4x 1" Grizzly hackle
Legs: 4x 1/2" Grizzly hackle

Tying instructions:
  1. The pattern is weighted with extra small lead dumbell, middle of shank

  2. Tie in green taffata ribbon (dress shops), comes in 1" wide rolls, ridges in material. Cut ribbon to small crab shape and fit to hook shank.

  3. Super Glue ,shiny side out, to hook shank under dumbell eye
    Note all these materials are glued in place, clear craft glue works well.

  4. Burnt mono eyes, #40 lb test, black marker

  5. 4x one inch grizzly hackle; Two on each side of eyes

  6. 4x half inch grizzly hackle; tied pointing out like legs

  7. Coat bottom of fly with epoxy, Lenny paints the bottom white, I added pearl "pulver" artist dust into the epoxy to give it a pearlescent hue.

  8. Coat top of fly lightly with epoxy.
