I grew up in the Northern Province of South Africa and like many farm kids I fished with bait in the local river and farm dams targeting Carp, Bass, Catfish and Tilapia.
Some years later I moved to the city of Pretoria and sadly fishing became a thing of the past with all the school activities and the bright lights a city has to offer.
Soon after my twentieth birthday I got introduced to fly-fishing by my now brother in law and immediately fell in love with the sport of fly-fishing.
The many opportunities this sport has to offer got me totally hooked and a large part of my life today is dedicated towards tying flies and fishing for my favourite species namely Largemouth Yellowfish, Smallmouth Yellowfish and Trout.
The patterns that I tie and created cover most freshwater situations with emphasize on suggestive motion and contrast. I believe these qualities are the most important attributes to any fish taking fly.
Happy tying and fishing
