(The materials are listed in the order they are tied in. Instructions assume righthanded tier.)
Tying instructions:
- The tying process of this fly is mostly pretty straightforward. Attach thread, tie in a few strands (4-5) of the poly fiber, dub and form a slender, slightly tapered body, covering 3/5 of the shank.
- Take the CDC feather, bunch up the tip and tie in using the pinch&loop technique. Tips extend over abdomen, butts over the eye. The length of the tip section should be slightly longer than required for the loop over the thorax.
- Trim CDC butts. Dub a slightly thicker, darker thorax.
- With left hand hold the dubbing needle horizontally and perpendicular to the shank above and slightly behind the thorax. With the right hand fold the CDC tips around the needle. Tie down at the eye with two or three tight wraps, then fold the very tips back up again. Make a three turn whip finish to complete this fly.
