I am a born and bred Nova Scotian. I have only lived out of my fair province for 8 months...long enough to take one year of higher education and decide to not continue.
I owe my addiction to fishing in general and flyfishing specifically, to my grandfather. He lives on the banks of the Moser River which once was a world famous atlantic salmon river. He taught me to fish more years ago than I can remember and indirectly influenced me to take up flytying, which seems to have overpowered even my desire to fish.
I have been tying flies since about 1986 with most of my efforts being centered on hairwing atlantic salmon flies. In the last few years I have gotten back into tying trout flies as well, but the salmon flies are by far my favourite. In 2002 I decided to attempt tying the Traditional Featherwing salmon flies and believe I have discovered my "drug". I was fortunate enough to get an impromptu lesson from Bryant Freeman one day at his shop which has helped me tremondously in my attempts to become as he puts it "a feather manipulater" not just a fly tyer.
Having tied flies commercially for the best part of the last 12 years many people cannot understand how I can still continue to tie and enjoy it. My answer to them is it is a passion for me and I find as much enjoyment in tying 100 of the same pattern as I do in tying 100 different patterns. Every fly is an adventure in bettering your skills at the vise and becoming an improved tyer.

I am also a member of ASF and the Secretary of Trout Unlimited Canada-Nova Scotia.
