Biot Wing Black Caddis

Pattern and fly: Jason Freund, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Dry Fly (TMC 900 BL or 102Y)
Thread: To match body color
Body: Beaver dubbing (or similar dry fly)
Underwing: Deer or Elk Hair, sparse
Wing: Turkey biots
Thorax: Beaver Dubbing
Hackle: Match body color, clipped top and bottom

Notes: Something of an original though I'm sure I wasn't the first to think of it. Good for still water caddis hatches, especially for slim profile caddis flies. Wings can be tied spent for another effective still water fly.
