Andy’s Candy
Note: This pattern is just a Griffith’s Gnat without the peacock herl body. Also tie this pattern using gray 8/0 tying thread. One of my favorite dry fly patterns when finicky fish are taking midges off the surface.
Tying instructions
- Start thread just behind hook eye and lay a thread base all the way to the hook bend.
- Tie in the grizzly hackle. Wrap thread back to just behind the hook eye and let bobbin hang.
- Wrap the grizzly hackle and tie off at the eye.
- Whip finish and coat with head cement.
