Tying instructions:

  1. Wrap hook shank from the eye to start of the bend with thread. Take one extra turn on top of body thread and half hitch.

  2. Spiral thread back to where the wing will be tied in. approx 2/3 of shank.

  3. Select a small bunch of hackle whisks and tie in. with one body length of the whisks protruding beyond the bend. Run thread in close turns to start of bend and allow the whisks to flare by tightening the thread down snug up against the extra turn of thread and half hitch left at the bend earlier.

  4. Run thread back to the wing position and half hitch.

  5. Select a length of Black Antron and tie in with the foot facing the bend.

  6. Clip any excess wing material and tie down working toward the bend and half hitch.

  7. Run the thread in tight close turns back to the wing and Post the wing.

  8. Split the wing into two equal sections with figure eight turns.

  9. Take three or four turns of thread around the base of each wing and finish with the thread just behind the wings.

  10. Select the hackle and strip a few whisks of either side of the stem. Tie the stripped stem of the hackle with the dull side of the hackle facing up, with two turns of thread in behind the wings, then take the thread in front of the wings and secure the stem with two or three turns. Clip any excess stem.

  11. Wind the hackle forward with three turns behind the wings, and two turns in front of the wings.

  12. Secure the hackle and half hitch. Clip off any excess. Tidy the eye area up with tweezers in necessary. Then whip finish and apply head cement.
