I work as a Vessel Traffic Controller in Flushing. We serve merchant ships on the river Scheldt with shore based radar assistance. These vessels (tankers, bulkcarriers and containervessels) are bound for Antwerp.
I started with flyfishing at the age of 30. By then I bought the flies I used. After a few years I quit. From early 1990 I resumed this hobby and tie my own fly ever since. I learned quite a lot from the books of Dave Hughes, Ted Leeson and Jim Schollmeyers. And Tom Rosenbauer of course. I learned also a lot from some experienced flytyers like Kampo Scholte en Sjaak Tazelaar, both members of our flyfish society called ‘Lure and Emerger’.
My favourite flies are the Klinkhammer Special, the Ammonite Nymph, the Tadpole and the Corixa. I prefer to fish in Belgium, German and French rivers, as well as the Dutch fishing-grounds
