I was born in 1971 in Hemer, Germany, were I still live with my girlfriend Britta and our dog Alice. Flyfishing all began in 1985, when I saw 2 flyfishers fishing for grayling and trout on my home water. I saw them casting and from then on only one thought ran through my mind, I want to learn flycasting and flyfishing!
I bought my first rod, reel and flyline and went down to the river and caught my first grayling and trout. After a short period of time I learned fly tying and soon I was trying to create my own special patterns for the waters near my home. Now I tie flies and go flyfishing for over 16 years, and I am very proud of having learned everything on my own, I never had fly fishing or tying classes.
In 1989 I travelled for the first time to the swedish river Mörrum, and from these early days of salmon fishing and salmon fly tying I began my special passion for the salmon fly.
Since 1998 I have tied at many flyfishing shows in germany and other european countries. Special highlights being the Danish Flyfestival in Kolding, Denmark and the Fly Fair in Hattem, the Netherlands. I took part in different national and international fly tying competitions and my best results thus far have been the silver medal for hairwing salmon flies and a bronce medal for fully dressed salmon flies at the Mustad Scandinavian Open.
Another great success of mine was the good results I achieved with different fly patterns in Ken Sawada´s Flytying Competition (Japan) in the classes better and excellent artworks.
But now my greatest success I ever achieved was winnig the 2003 Grand Prix on the Ken Sawada competition!
I have also had good results in the slowenian fly tying competition and other tying competitions in Germany, e.g. Flyfishing Brinkhoff and I even won some of them.
I am very pleased that a german artist chose some of my classic salmon flies and tube flies for creating a calendar for 2002 (classics) and 2003 (tube flies).
