Pattern information: This is a remarkable Spey fly when you add spey hackle in place of the standard hackle and a low white quill wing. The initial concept of this fly came when I noticed that although red and black are regarded as effective Steelhead and Salmon colours, there are few flies that incorporate both in one pattern. The dark body and red highlights seem to be good at attracting fish without spooking them. I've never fished Ceann Mor, but I hope to someday. Reports from the continent say it works well in my ancestors' Perthshire, Scotland. |
